Professor Reinhold Kreutz, MD, PhD

Prof. Reinhold Kreutz is the Director of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin in Berlin, Germany. He received the title of Associate Professor in 2010, specialising in hypertension and clinical pharmacology. Prof. Kreutz’s main areas of research are clinical and experimental hypertension with a focus on genetics of hypertensive target organ damage, clinical pharmacology of cardiovascular drugs, pharmacogenomics, drug therapy in the older people and drug safety.

Prof. Kreutz was the President of the European Society of Hypertension (ESH) from 2019 to 2022 and was Secretary of the Scientific Council of ESH (2017–2019). Between 2010 and 2016, he was a member of the management board of the German Society of Hypertension. In addition, he was the Co-Chair of the 2023 ESH Hypertension Guidelines Task Force and the 2024 Clinical Practice Guidelines for the management of hypertension of the ESH.

Prof. Kreutz was awarded an honorary membership of the Polish Society and Hungarian Society of Hypertension in 2022 and 2024, respectively, and an honorary doctorate (honoris causa) in 2022 from the School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

He has published more than 500 scientific articles and several book chapters related to hypertension and clinical pharmacology. His H-index is 73 (Google Scholar) and ScholarGPS has placed him in the top 0.05% of all scholars worldwide in 2024.

Prof. Gianfranco Parati is Honorary Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Milano-Bicocca and Scientific Director and Head of the Department of Cardiology at IRCCS Istituto Auxologico Italiano in Milan, Italy. He currently serves as President of the World Hypertension League. He is also Immediate Past President of the Council on Hypertension of the European Society of Cardiology, Past President of the Italian Society of Hypertension, a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology, a Distinguished Fellow of the International Society of Hypertension, and Chairperson of the European Society of Hypertension’s Working Group on Cardiovascular Risk and Hypertension in Low-Resource Settings.

Prof. Parati is Past Executive Editor of the Journal of Hypertension, and currently Associate Editor of Hypertension Research and the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology. He sits on the editorial boards of several leading international journals, including Hypertension.

His research interests include the management of arterial hypertension, blood pressure measurement and variability, sleep-related breathing disorders, arterial stiffness, space research on microgravity (NASA, ESA), high-altitude physiology, cardiac imaging, and the use of telemedicine and digital health technologies.

He has authored more than 1,800 peer-reviewed publications and over 130 book chapters, with an H-index of 147 and 117,544 citations (Research.com).

He was awarded Highly Cited Researcher status by Clarivate in both 2023 and 2024, and received the Research.com Medicine in Italy Leader Award in 2023, 2024, and 2025.
